Orthopedic Joint Surgery

Our Doctors here at Arizona Spine and Joint Hospital specialize in the diagnosis and replacement of orthopedic joints.  Orthopedics is generally the study of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system consists of the bones, joints, ligaments and tendons that  hold our body together.  The joints are the structures that connect individual bones together allowing them to move against one another to create movement.  These joints take a beating over the course of a lifetime.  Sometimes a joint can deteriorate due to arthritis, osteoporosis, injury, or just over use which in turn causes great pain.  Our doctors work with our patients to replace these joints to alleviate the pain and get them back to having normal active lives. The most common joints we see replacement of is the knees and hips.

Orthopedic Spine Surgery

Here at the Arizona Spine and Joint Hospital we work with the Orthopedic Spine to help heal our patients. Our doctors have studied orthopedics extensively,  which is the entire musculoskeletal system.  The spine is unique in that it is made up of 3 major sections.  The Cervical spine, the thoracic spine, and the lumbar spine.  Each of these sections has their own set of vertebrae.  Each of these vertebrae have several parts and when injured or worn out from over use and degenerative diseases like arthritis and osteoporosis they can cause extreme pain and discomfort.  Our doctors  take the time to get to know our patients and work to create the best treatment plan to get them back to their normal lifestyles.  Whether it is pain management or surgery to correct the issue we will make it the best experience we can.

Podiatry is the study and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and the structures of the leg.  Doctors who specialize in this field of medicine are often referred to as “the foot doctor” or podiatrist.  All of our “feet” doctors n here at Arizona Joint and Spine Hospital have completed at least four years of training in podiatric medical school and 3 years of hospital residency training.  They are all board certified in helping treat the conditions of the foot, ankle and related structures of the leg.  Whether it is sports medicine, pediatrics, dermatology or diabetes our podiatrists can diagnose and treat many different problems related to the feet.  Podiatrists are sometimes the first to identify systemic diseases in patients, such as diabetes and vascular disease.

Arizona Joint and Spine Hospital specializes in orthopedics.  What is Orthopedics you ask?  Well in general terms it is the study of the musculoskeletal system.  The word orthopedics is derived from the Greek work  ‘ortho’ which means straight and ‘pedics’  which comes from the word ‘pais’ meaning children.  Early study of orthopedics was actually brought about to treat children who were crippled or had debilitating diseases.  Today’s orthopedic doctors  treat everyone, no matter their age which gives us a broad base of experience.  We here at Arizona Joint and Spine Hospital take the time to get to know everyone one of our patients so that we know just how to help them live an active life no matter what they are being treated for.
